Florida

The flag of Florida was adopted in 1900.  The flag contains a white field with a red Saltire and the seal of Florida in the center.  The red saltire was added in the late 1890`s and resembles the Cross of Burgundy Flag flown by the Spanish in Florida. There have been sixteen different flags flown in Florida during different time of history.

Florida’s nickname is The Sunshine State, adopted officially by Florida legislature in 1970. Florida is the fourth most-populated state in the country, and it’s beaches draw thousands of tourists every year. Most of the state has a humid subtropical climate, except for the southern part below Lake Okeechobee (which has a true tropical climate).
