Denmark

The origins of Denmark’s flag date back to the 14th Century. The Danish flag is the oldest known state flag in the world still in use.  The flag is red and contains a white Nordic Cross.  The cross represents Christianity and is shifted towards the hoist of the flag.  The Nordic cross also associates Denmark with the Nordic countries of Northern Europe.  Denmark was the first country to use this design then Finland.  Iceland, Sweden and Norway followed.
