Accra, Ghana
The flag of Ghana contains three horizontal bands with the traditional Pan-African colours red, yellow and green. The black star in the center is the star of African freedom. The red on the flag represents the bloodshed of those who fought for the independence of Ghana. The yellow symbolizes the nation’s rich mineral wealth and the green colour stands for the country’s rich forests. The flag was adopted in 1957 after gaining independence from the Great Britain.
