Maldives

The national flag of the Republic of Maldives was adopted on July 25, 1965.  The flag is red with a green rectangle and a white crescent in the center.   The white crescent represents the unity of the Islamic faith in the nation.  The green in the center rectangle stands for the large amount of coconut palm trees on the island.  The red symbolizes the brave heroes of the nation and their willingness to sacrifice their blood for their country.
