Morocco

The Morocco flag was adopted on March 2, 1956. The flag contains a red field with a green interwoven star. The red on the flag is used to represent Morocco’s past. Red was the colour of the Sherifs of Mecca and the Imams of Yemen in the 17th century when Morocco was under the rule of the Hassani Dynasty.  The flags of the country were just plain red until 1915 when the green Seal of Solomon was added to the flag.
