NZ7B – Floyd
Elk Plain, Washington
The flag of Washington State was adopted in 1923. The flag contains a green field with the state seal in the center. The state seal contains a picture of President George Washington, making it the only flag in the U.S to have a depiction of a president on its flag.
Washington was nicknamed The Evergreen State by pioneer C.T. Conover (Seattle realtor and historian) for its abundant evergreen forests (not officially adopted by Washington legislature). Also see Washington’s state tree – western hemlock.
