The Jamaican flag contains the Pan African colours which are black, green and gold.  The flag has a gold saltire that divides the flag into four parts in which two are coloured green and the other two black.  The black on the flag represents the people, the gold symbolizes the sun and the green stands for the rich vegetation of the land.  The Jamaican flag was adopted on August 6, 1962.
