Brunei

The flag of Brunei contains a yellow field with a black and white diagonal strip. At the center of the flag is the national coat of arms. The flag was adopted on September 29, 1959.  The yellow on the flag is the color for royalty.  The black and white  colors on the flag stand for Brunei`s Chiefs Ministers.  The coat of arms on the flag was adopted in 1932.  The coat of arms contains a crescent which represents Islam, the national religion.  On top of the crescent are the royal parasol and two gloves on each side.  At the bottom of the coat of arms in Arabic inscriptions is Brunei’s motto “Always in Service with Gods Guidance” and the inscription “State of Brunei, Abode of Peace”.
