Vipava, Slovenia

Slovenia

The Slovenian flag was created during the spring of nations when a group of students took colours from the Carniolan coat of arms and placed them in a order for it to resemble the Russian flag.  The flag contains three horizontal bands coloured white, blue and red with the Slovenian coat of arms in the upper hoist.  The coat of arms is a blue shield with a red border and a white depiction of mount Triglava (Slovenia`s highest point).  The wavy lines on Mount Triglava symbolize the sea and the rivers.  The three six pointed star above the mountain where taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Celje.
