Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
The Russian Flag was readopted after the fall of the Soviet Union on December 11, 1993. The flags use dates back to 1668 when the first Russian naval Ship required a flag to fly. There are different theories of how the colors were chosen. One is that the builder of the ship was of Dutch origins so they simply adopted the colors of the Dutch flag. Another theory is that they use the colors on the coat of arms of Moscow. The flag contains three horizontal bands colored white, blue and red.
