Colorado

The flag of Colorado was adopted on June 5, 1911. The flag contains three horizontal strips coloured blue and white. On the center of the flag is a red “C” with a yellow disk in the center. The blue on the flag symbolize the blue sky of the state and the white represents the snow covered mountains. The yellow disk symbolizes the states sunshine and the red stands for the earth.

Colorado’s nickname is The Centennial State. Colorado became the 38th state of the United States in 1876 – one hundred years after the signing of our nation’s Declaration of Independence. Another well- known nickname is “Colourful Colorado” because of the state’s magnificent scenery of mountains, rivers and plains.
