Location: Description Approximately 1,100 miles directly west of Luanda, Angola, Africa – about 2,000 miles east of Brazil, South America 

Climate: Tropical conditions with constant trade winds 

Terrain: Volcanic island with a very rugged landscape. Some of the surrounding cliffs exceed 1000 ft.
