The flag of Wisconsin contains a dark blue field with the state seal in the center and the name “Wisconsin” at the top. At the bottom is the date 1848 which was the year Wisconsin became a state in the Union. The flag was originally designed when the regiments of Wisconsin wanted a flag for battlefield use.
The nickname for Wisconsin is The Badger State. The badger is featured on Wisconsin’s state flag and is the official state animal.
