Costa Rica
The Flag of Costa Rica contains five horizontal bands colored blue, white and red. The colors were inspired by the colors on the French flag. The blue symbolizes the sky, idealism, opportunities and perseverance. The white stands for peace, wisdom and happiness. The red on the flag stands for the warmth and generosity of the people and also represents the bloodshed by those in the defense of their nation. The state flag includes the coat of arms of Costa Rica. The flag of Costa Rica was adopted on November 27, 1906 after the country declared itsself a Sovereign Republic from the Federal Republic of Central America.
