The Panamanian flag is divided into four quarters. On the hoist side the top quarter is white with a blue star and the bottom quarter is a solid blue. On the side of the fly the top quarter is a solid red colour and the bottom is white with a red star. The stars and the two colours of the quarters represent the two political parties and the white symbolizes the peaceful way that they operate. The blue colour represents the conservatives and the red represents the liberals. The national flag of Panama was adopted on November 4, 1925.
