Finland
The flag of Finland was adopted after Finland got its independence from Russia in the early 20th century, but the design of the flag dates back to the 19th century. The flag contains a blue Nordic cross on a white base. The blue on the flag represents the countries thousands of lakes and the sky. The white on the flag stands for the white snow covered land in the winter. These colours have been used over the centuries by different Finnish provincial, military and towns.
