The flag of Washington State was adopted in 1923. The flag contains a green field with the state seal in the center. The state seal contains a picture of President George Washington, making it the only flag in the U.S to have a depiction of a president on its flag.
Washington was nicknamed The Evergreen State by pioneer C.T. Conover (Seattle realtor and historian) for its abundant evergreen forests.
